As part of the PARP program, we will be collecting new and gently used
books to donate to Saratoga Family Inn in Jamaica, Queens. We can accept
books for children of all ages, as well as for adults.
Saratoga Family Inn is a homeless shelter run by the non-profit
organization Homes for the Homeless, inc. Saratoga family inn serves over
200 families who are working towards the goals of self-sufficiency and
permanent housing. To those ends, Saratoga offers many programs for
residents of all ages. Day care is provided on-site for ages six months
through six years; brownstone is an after school program for children in
elementary grades; future link is an after school program for teens;
there are also adult and family literacy programs.
We are fortunate that our classrooms and homes are filled with books.
We are asking you to help less fortunate families create this important
reading environment, in the shelter and eventually in their own homes.
Your generosity in helping stock books for the families and the programs
that serve these families sends an important message about how we feel
about books.
There will be a drop-off bin in the main lobby all week long, Monday to
Friday, March 12-16.
